I completed a 12 month training in Psychotherapy Supervision at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in 2005 and have been supervising for many years and with many different client groups. I am a registered supervisor with British Association of Art Therapists.
Supervision is offered to arts therapists in private or independent practice as well as those employed in different organisations. Off-site supervision is often a necessity when an organisation does not have another art therapist at their place of work who can offer supervision. Supervision can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly depending on the number of client hours as well as the budget. The protocol is generally one supervision hour for every six client hours.
In 2017 I devised and delivered the first long training (6 months) in Arts Therapy Supervision. This course has been very well-received and is now offered every year.
My approach is determined by the orientation of the art therapist and takes into account the needs of the clients, arts therapist as well as organisation. I offer individual and small group supervision. Supervision can also include art-making.
